Gap Organizational Culture
Design Strategy
Gap has been dealing with motivational challenges in its retail stores within recent years. In a semester-long team project in Business Leadership, my group identified the root cause of these challenges in employee motivation:
The passion of the product designers and merchants at Gap isn’t transferred to Gap retail employees, which in turn is not transferred to the customers at the stores, and vice versa. This lack of passion and broken feedback loop impacts the turnover rate at retail stores, sales figures, and customer satisfaction.
Our team developed three easily attainable solutions to address our identified problems in Gap’s organizational culture which seem to be hindering its potential to be a fun and satisfying workplace, which in turn has resulted in Gaps declining brand value. We delivered our findings in a 15-minute fun and engaging presentation.
