blinkx beat is an online video web app where the user “filters through the static” of delivered videos. The app offers a passive user experience with the video playing in full screen like a television, as well as an active experience for users to browse related content by topic, audio-cued tags, visual similarity, and even facial recognition.
Similar to Last.fm and Pandora online radio, the user starts the viewing experience by entering a topic or word when they arrive at the site. This creates a “channel” for them to start watching right away. As videos are delivered one by one, they can sit back and let videos play, or they can actively filter what videos they “love” or “hate”. Eventually a unique profile is built based on their viewing patterns and recommended videos are delivered based on the established criteria.
I was responsible for the UI design, mockups and additional web development.
