Discipline

I’ve been taking a course called “Manufractured”, taught by Steven Skov Holt and Mara Holt Skov, the authors of their book with the same title. Each and every lecture has been a mind-blowing experience, with discussions that dive deep into my cognitive understanding of what design is and what design can become.

Recently, Steven provided a quote that I will forever cherish – “To be multi-disciplinary, one must by disciplined.” My heart raced at the profundity of such a statement.

A New Beginning

After a long hiatus, it was definitely time to freshen up this site. Welcome to the new nreliu.com, my own online space where I hope to share my thoughts, ideas, and work to the online world. In completing my first year in the Design Strategy MBA program, I’ve discovered that I have been doing a lot more thinking, sketching, and most of all, reading. With all this content in my head, I needed a place to go to share my ideas and get feedback with the online community.

What are my goals for this new site?

Well, for one, I hope to use it as an easy to update online portfolio. Second, seeing how I’ve never seriously blogged before, I hope to use this site as a means to express my thoughts on all topics that tickle my fancy, from design to life lessons. I guess in essence, this site is a space for experimentation and reflection on my personal journey towards becoming a better designer and a better person.
